Abstract

Gender is the cultural meaning and form that the body acquires, the variable modes of that body‟s acculturation. In this case both men and women still get unequal treatment. Mostly, men have higher positions than women. This research discusses how the patriarchal system affects the mentality of women experienced of Mia Form in Annabelle (2014) by John R and Esther Mullins in Annabelle Creation (2017) by David Sanberg. In these two films, the female characters are subordinated by their partners. This study uses two theories of Simone De Bouvoir (1989); Women Subordination and Women as „Other‟. In addition, this study also uses qualitative methods and narrative non-narrative to interpret the findings. The results of this study shows the ideal women who can do their domestic work, the women in these two films are discriminated, but play an important role in their family, and women also will be punished when they do not carry out their roles correctly.
