Abstract
The focus of this study is to explore dissociative identity disorder (DID) figure and the interaction with other characters being shown in the film Split (2016) and Glass (2018). The film Split and Glass plot are about a man named Kevin which has 24 different identities. The dissociative identity disorder itself is a psychological disorder that causes the patient to have multiple identities shown at different times. The figure depiction and interaction around the DID character became very interesting because the personality can be differed from time to time, while the other character is still the same as before. The method used in analyzing is the semiotic discourse by Saussure using the triangle of meaning. DID figures are displayed in construction following the existing stereotypes, both as a mentally ill person who is vulnerable or an evil person who is a dangerous one. Characters with DID are also shown to be changing identities and/or changing constantly with different characteristics in the same body, giving a sense of differentness from one single person. The depiction of the interaction between two different characters in the same situation or position is presented in different relationships depending on how many interactions are carried out and with what constructs at that time the DID figures are shown. Complex interactions and relationships only occur and are depicted in one character who sees the DID figures as different people at each alter.
