Abstract
Diabetes Mellitus have neurological side effects that can affect peripheral andcentral nervous system. It may also be seen in cognitive function which can affectreaction time. Reaction time is the time interval between the application of a stimulusand the response to the stimulus. One of the important treatments for DM is physicalexercises. Persadia gymnastic is one example of physical exercise that speciallydesigned for people with diabetes. The purpose of this study was to identify the effectof acute persadia gymnastics to the level of concentration in patients with DM. This research is an experimental study with control pre-posttest group design. Thepopulation is type 2 DM patients in Surabaya. The selection of research subjects isbased on criteria determined by the researcher. From a total of 14 subjects analyzed,they were divided into 2 groups randomly. The data measured is the concentration levelof the subject before and after the intervention. It was assessed by measuring subject’sreaction time. The mean results of reaction time for all subjects were then comparedbetween before and after intervention and between the control and treatment groups. From the results of independent T test and Mann-Whitney test, the difference ofreaction time between the treatment and control groups, obtained significance valuesmore than 0.05 (p> 0.05) which means there is no significant difference in reactiontime between the control and intervention group. There are many factors that can affectreaction time and some still cannot be controlled in this study
