Abstract

This study attempts to discuss how Sherlock Holmes as a detective in the story of the Hound of Baskervilles written by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, solve his case that happened in Baskervilles. Here, the characterization of Sherlock Holmes as a rational detective will be analyzed in this thesis through his case that has deal with supernatural case. The writer will also shows how Sherlock Holmes logical thinking presented through the opening and closing scenes from the story the Hound of Baskervilles in cracking supernatural mystery of Baskerville family. This study is quite different from others Sherlock Holmes stories. Therefore, the writer will discuss more about how Sherlock Holmes as a rational detective presented in this story.
