Submitted as partial fulfillment of requirement for sarjana degree of English Department, Faculty of Letters, Airlangga University. 2001 This study is in form of a research on the application of colour in teaching Quran to prekindergarten and kindergarten children. The colour treatment is based on some theories about Developmental Information-Processing Model of Reading proposed by Louise Spear-Swerling and Robert .I ( 1994 in Santrock, I 998: 334- 335), an experiment by Egeland ( 1975 in Reed. 1992: 18), and Feature theory for pattern recognition in field of cognitive psychology
