Abstract

The fact that in a certain literary work, the element of supernaturalism usually only functions as a sugar coating/sensation maker is a commonsensical notion that is circulating among many parties. Nevertheless, what if this supernaturalism is met with a more sophisticated literary content, especially the ones that put forward the morality values? This is what the writer attempts to examine in this thesis. In this thesis, the writer has chosen Stephen King's novel The Green Mile, which is a prison set dramatic novel with a taste of supernaturalism and spiritualism. The writer sees in this work a problem that represents the subject matter that the writer will discuss in the thesis. which is a work that is essentially a morality drama with a subtle supernatural and spiritual pulse
