Abstract
This research aimed to describe the stereotypes of shoujo manga through characters in GekkanShoujoNozaki Kun by Izumi Tsubaki The data to be analyzed were scenes and dialogs that been selected. Data to be analyzed using descriptive qualitative methods and theory of Charles Sanders Pierce. This research indicated that Sakura represented typical Shoujo manga heroine, shown by her cute attitude, following words of the man she likes and depressed because her femininity defeated by men. Nozaki did not fully have shoujo manga’s hero stereotype, as he only shown one characteristic which was him being a figure defining femininity for female characters. Kashima did not have gender stereotype of shoujo manga but rather had the real community gender stereotype, shown by her confident and proud attitude towards being a school prince. Miyako only showed gender stereotypes of real society, shown by her submission to male figure. Hori did not fully have shoujo manga gender stereotype because he only showed being harsh when showing anger. Mikoshiba represented the stereotype of female shoujo manga, shown by him being dependent on others. Four out of six characters that had been analyzed were not fully shown as shoujo manga gender stereotypes, rather they showed real community gender stereotype.
