Abstract

This study aims to understand the ideas formed from the description of polyphonic aspects in structures of the novel text entitled Hipernova and ideas interrelated to understand the existence of Novae personage in the novel entitled Hipernova by Fariza Auliya Jasmine. This study uses qualitative research, focusing on the description of the data meaning found or else the phenomena found. Research data collection is done by the read, observe, and note technique. The data analysis technique is done by using Bakhtin’s dialogic theory as the main theory to reveal the basic ideas of the existence of the Novae personage with the various problems during her self-seeking. The result of this study found that there are ideas of the narrator and the character also the carnival elements in the text of the novel Hipernova. The ideas raised are the result of the debate of the existed ideas which are referring to the self-introduction of the character Novae so that she can understand the meaning of her life. The presence of scrapbook is a media for Novae in understanding her self-existence and meaning of her life. The analysis of the polyphonic aspect can show the dynamic of the search of the identity of the main character Novae in understanding the self-existence and God. In the aesthetic stage, Novae understands her existence by the fulfilling of her wish. But the reading of the scrapbook makes her understand her self-limitation which tends to deify the mind, ignoring others and not believing in God. Her soul then experiences emptiness and that emptiness leads to despair which is the main problem of self-existence. The reading of the scrapbook was able to guide her out of anxiety until Novae was able to choose and decide for herself to converted back to Islam as in the ethical stage. At the religious stage, the decision can be justified as indicated by the change in Novae's attitude for the better and stated henceforth to focus on worshiping Allah SWT as the holder of subjectivity. Novae's self-relationship with Allah is subjectivity. This is indicated by the attitude of Novae in looking at life, actions based on her faith in Allah SWT, and the desire to continue to maintain her faith in Allah SWT. Novae can then realize that she is an individual that exists. The existence that is understood is an authentic existence that refers to Novae's ability to continue to maintain the responsibilities and decisions she made. Awareness of authentic existence shows that the individual is an authentic self.
