Abstract

Children with ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) are those who have special needs. They have difficulties to perceive information and they need visual image stimuli to improve their visual perception ability. The aim of this research is to explain the effects of treatment using visual image stimuli to children with ADHD (Attention Deficit Hiperactivity Disorder) to the improvement of visual perception ability. The research used experimental study. The population of the research were ADHD children at Yayasan Permata Hati Malang. The 28 respondents were taken randomly. The independent Variable of this research was the treatment using visual image stimuli and the dependent variable was the visual perception ability. The visual perception ability was measured using the Frostig Test. The data were analyzed using t test with significance level rat~; of 0.05. The result of the research showed that there was a significant improvement of visual perception ability children with ADHD in intervention group after treatment (p=O.OOO). The conclusion of this research was that the treatment using visual image stimuli improves the visual perception ability of children with ADHD because colorful visual images are more appealing to children with ADHD so that they can be give more attention and more focus. Further research can be conducted to reveal the effect of the treatment to the children's cognitive skill in a broader sense.
