Abstract

Barr Al Jissah Resort and Spa adalah merupakan salah satu asset kecil hotel berbintang Lima dan enam di Muscat dari Shangri- La Internationals Management. Di dalam hotel ini tak hanya pelayanannya yang membuat puas tetapi juga menu dan suasana yang mendukung. Selain itu adalah sarana dan prasarananya yang menunjang sehingga tempat ini cocok untuk dikunjungi selain suasana juga panoramanya yang indah serta bentuk bentuk bangunannya yang unik dan menawan. Recreation Depart men inilah salah satunya department yang mengelola dan bertanggung jawab pada sarana dan prasarana rekreasi, dimana department ini juga berusaha menjadikan tamu betah dan tidak bosan menginap dihotel ini, sehingga di dalam pelaksanaan tugasnya Recreation departemen ini tentunya memerlukan upaya untuk menciptakan rasa nyaman serta aman di hotel resort tersebut dan kendala-kendala yang sering dihadapinya. Kedua hal ini yang menjadi permasalahan dalam penulisan tugas akhir ini. Untuk menyelesaikan dan memperoleh jawaban atas permasalahan, penulis menggunakan metode deskriptif dengan pendekatan kualitatif. Untuk penentuan lokasi penelitian, penulis memilih Shangri-La Barr Al Jissah Resort and Spa sebagaisalah satu asset Shangrila di Muscat Oman yang unik. Dalam penentuan informan penulis menunjuk manager all hotel, assisten manager, watersport management, beberapa tamu yang menginap dan staff yang bersangkutan. Sedangkan pada teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan metode wawancara, observasi dan penggunaan bahan dokumen. Analisa data yang digunakan adalah membaca data-data, memeriksa topic-topik hasil wawancara, memeriksa dan menyeleksi bahan dokumen, membaca kepustakaan yang relavan, membuat alur cerita, menganalisa dan memeriksa kembali alur cerita, membuat kesimpulan dari analisa tersebut. Hasil dari penelitian yang telah dilakukan yaitu penulis dapat mengetahui fungsi department recreation dalam upaya menciptakan rasa nyaman serta aman wisatawan yang berada di hotel Shangri-La Barr Al Jissah ini. Adapun fungsi recreation departementadalah memberikan pelayanan atau disebut juga recreation butler selain itu department ini juga berfungsi sebagai Lifeguard baik di kolam renang, pantai maupun di sarana yang lain. Penulis juga mengetahui kendala – kendala yang dihadapinya baik dari piha hotel sendiri khususnya staff dan dari pihak tamu. Kendala –kendala tersebut antara lain dari pihak staff adalah : staff yang tidak taat, peraturan yang tidak sesuai dengan SOP dan sebaginya. Sedangkan dari pihak tamu antara lain adalah tanu yang nakal serta kebiasaan dari tamu itu sendiri. In determination of all informants the authors pointed to the hotel manager, assistant manager, Watersport management, some guests staying and staff concerned. While the method of data collection techniques interviews, observation and use of documents. Analysis of data used is reading data, examining topics of interviews, examining and selecting material documents, read the relevant literature, make a plot, analyze and re-examine the story line, making conclusions from the analysis. The results of the research that has been done of the author to find out recreation department functions in an effort to create a sense of comfort and safety tourists who are in Shangri-La Barr Al Jissah this. The function recreation departementadalah provide recreation services or also called butler other than that this department also serves as a good Lifeguard in the pool pool, beach or in other facilities. The authors also acknowledge constraints - constraints that it faces both from piha own hotel and especially the staff of party guests. These constraints include the part of the staff are: staff who do not obey, the rules are not in accordance with the SOP and so on.
