Abstract

Penelitian ini berfokus pada wacana bagaimana Islam dikonstruksi sebagai identitas agama yang oriental melalui simbol-simbol yang ditampilkan dalam Dua Dunia di Trans 7. Islam sebagai agama banyak hadir menjadi tema utama dalam tayangan televisi dan memiliki kecenderungan bergesernya fungsi agama sebagai tuntunan menjadi tontonan. Pemilihan acara Dua Dunia sebagai subjek penelitian karena konsep yang berbeda yaitu mengungkap sejarah suatu tempat yang dipercaya memiliki mitos dan percakapan dengan makhluk ghaib melalui mediator tubuh manusia. Penelitian ini ingin melihat bagaimana Islam dikonstruksi sebagai identitas agama yang oriental melalui simbol-simbol yang ditampilkan dalam tayangan Dua Dunia di Trans 7. Untuk dapat menjelaskan bagaimana wacana Islam dikonstruksi sebagai identitas agama yang oriental dalam tayangan Dua Dunia di Trans 7, peneliti menggunakan teori orientalisme dan identitas Islam sebagai dasar menganalisis wacana dalam teks dan gambar yang ditampilkan dalam tayangan tersebut. Menggunakan analisis wacana Fairclogh, peneliti ini menghubungkan antara teks, praktik wacana, dan praktik sosial budaya. Penelitian ini memperlihatkan bahwa Islam dan mistik mempunyai relasi yang kuat terutama dalam tayangan televisi, selain itu Islam sebagai agama juga berakulturasi dengan kebudayaan lokal dalam hal ini Jawa dengan kebudayaan Jawa yang sangat erat kaitannya dengan mistik. Selain itu, kehadiran ustadz sebagai pemuka agama Islam dengan melakukan praktik yang hampir sama dengan praktik dukun atau paranormal semakin menguatkan relasi antara Islam dan mistik. Islam dan gender juga tak luput menjadi konstruksi orientalisme dalam Islam. Perempuan dalam tayangan Dua Dunia semakin menguatkan stereotype bahwa perempuan adalah subordinat dari laki-laki. Ustadz dalam tayangan merepresentasikan sosok maskulin yang ideal yaitu kuat, pemberani, dan bertindak sebagai pahlawan. Komunikasi non-verbal yang diwakilkan oleh jilbab yang dikenakan host menjadi identitas pembeda dan juga tanda keshalihan Translation: This research focus on the text of how Islam being constructed as the religion identity which is oriental, based on the symbols that showing in program television, Dua Dunia on Trans 7. This theme become interesting to explore because Islam as the majority religion become a main theme on several television programs and have tendencies in religion functional shifted from the guidance to spectacle. The reason of choosing Dua Dunia as the research subject is because Dua Dunia has a different concept which is reveal the history of one place that believed has a myth and supernatural being’s conversation by human as a mediator. This program was created from the desire to showing myths and mystical cultural that exist in Indonesia. The other side of power attendance, outside the logical human mind that grow from one tradition served by logic touch through some researches that already done before. This research want to see how Islam constructed as the identity if religion which oriental through the symbols that appears in reality show Dua Dunia Trans 7. To explain how Islam discourse constructed as the identity of oriental religion through the symbols that appears in reality show Dua Dunia Trans 7, researcher used orientalism theory and Islam identity as a base of discourse analysis in the texts and images that appears in this show. The researcher also used Fairclogh discourse analysis in order to connect it between texts, discourse practice, and social cultural practice. This research showed that Islam and mystic have strong relation, especially in television program. Besides that, local (Java) culture and Islam as the religion become acculturated. Java cultural closely related to mystical which more popular in the past before the entry of Islam in Java. Besides that, the presence of ustadz as the Islam prominent by doing practice which nearly the same with shaman or paranormal strengthen the relation between Islam and mystic. Islam and gender also become an orientalism construction in Islam. Women in Dua Dunia strengthen the stereotype of women as subordinate of men, who only act as a companion and also as a weak an obedient creatures. Masculine domination also showed in this program and ustadz as the representation. Ustadz in this program portray the masculine and ideal such as strong, brave, and act like a hero. Nonverbal communication that illustrated by hijab, which is used by host, become an identity distinction and also the sign of goodness.
