Abstract

Hypertension is one of major health problem and it calls as the silent killer. The purpose of the study was to review the profile of antihypertension prescription at FarmasiAirlangga. This study was a desciptive and restropective study. It was conducted by looking at prescription refill from January to April 2015. The result showed 1708 of 3107 sheets of prescriptions that were served during the period containing antihypertensive drugs. The most frequently prescribed antihypertension groups were Ca Channel Blocker group 770 (38,34%) and β blocker group 361 (17,95%). Amlodipine 519 (25,81%) was the most often prescribed antihypertension drug. Physicians wrote 1421 (70,66%) in generic name. Sometimes hypertension patients were not only given one antihypertension drug, but also combination antihypertension drugs. The most often combination antihypertension groups were Ca Channel Blockergroup with ARB (Angiotensin Resceptor Blocker) group 214 (33,97%). The most frequent combination antihypertension drugs were amlodipine and valsartan (65 prescription). Beside antyhipertension drugs, several patients were given other drugs to treat other diseases. 556 prescriptions contained other medication with antidiabetic medications was the most prescribed 483 (37,68%). In conclude, pharmacist’s role in giving approriate drug information to patients was essential to improve patient’s condition.
