Abstract
This study focuses on male masculinity images in comics Fight !! Ippo. Overview of masculine male figure can be produced through a system of representation which is a symbolic picture of masculine men in this study represented through the medium of comics. Comics as a media able to give views on the masculine male figure displayed through scenes and depictions of figures Ippo and Miyata. In this comic Ippo and Miyata are main character that serves to build comic storyline in Fight!! Ippo. Both can provide a picture of a masculine male figure. Science study of communication used in this research is the theory of the representation by Stuart Hall, semiotics by Charles Sanders Peirce, masculinity, masculinity in the media, and comics as mass media. This research is a descriptive qualitative approach and research methods of semiotic analysis. The findings of the research data concerning male images of masculine through Ippo and Miyata characters in comics Fight !! Ippo, shows that through the character Ippo and Miyata was able to show the nature of masculine male. The nature of masculine male is represented through the depiction and also scenes that are in the comics. The depiction of two men as masculine men have in common with masculine men picture presented by the media in general.
