Abstract

The society is divided into two classes, bourgeoisie and proletariat based on Marxism. Between two classes there are conflicts that occur which include the interest of both classes. This kind of phenomenon is well portrayed in the film called In Time. This film is interesting, in the sense that it provides the representation of the social class based on the real society today. This research attempts to figure out the structure of social classes represented in the film. This research also aims to criticize the capitalist practice in the society that gives negative impact to the society. Moreover, this study also intends to figure out the construction of time as the capital. This research used movie In Time as the research object and also the primary data. The narrative and non-narrative aspects have been collected as the main data to support the analysis. The data collection focused on particular scenes in the movie that shows details of the structures of capitalist society portrayed in the movie. As for the non-narrative aspect of the film, the writer focused on the technical elements such as setting, makeup, and lighting that support the important points of the entire story line.
