Abstract

Metaphorical utterances, for some people can be very confusing. When someone using metaphor, he actually intends to convey something different from what the sentence means. In spite of the confusion. many people use metaphor because by using metaphor, they can say what they want to say more vividly and forcefully than by saying it directly. William Shakespeare a famous writer, uses metaphor in his drama entitled Othello. The metaphorical utterances are especially used by lago when he speaks to the other characters such as Brabantio, Othello and Cassio.
