Abstract

Penelitian ini berfokus pada interpretasi perempuan pengguna hijab atas sensualitas tubuh perempuan pada foto-foto di majalah Hijabella. Sensualitas perempuan di media seringkali dicitrakan atau digambarkan dengan bentuk fragmen-fragmen tubuh sebagai penanda dengan berbagai posisi dan pose. Peneliti kemudian tertarik untuk melihat interpretasi khalayak pengguna hijab atas sensualitas tubuh perempuan pada foto-foto di majalah Hijabella, karena adanya perbedaan antara makna hijab menurut Islam dengan apa yang ditampilkan oleh majalah tersebut. Maka, rumusan masalah dalam penelitian ini adalah bagaimana interpretasi perempuan pengguna hijab terhadap sensualitas tubuh perempuan pada foto-foto di majalah Hijabella. Untuk mengungkap interpretasi atas sensualitas, peneliti menggunakan tinjauan pustaka majalah dan budaya, tubuh perempuan dan sensualitas, bahasa foto, analisis resepsi, dan pengguna hijab sebagai khalayak. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif eksploratif dengan paradigma konstruktivis. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah analisis resepsi dengan melakukan focus group discussion kepada pengguna hijab sebagai informan penelitian. Berdasarkan analisis, ditemukan bahwa informan memiliki interpretasi yang beragam. Informan yang menganggap foto-foto di majalah Hijabella sensual, berada di posisi dominant-hegemonic. Menurut beberapa informan tersebut, sensualitas ditunjukkan melalui penonjolan bagian-bagian tubuh seperti bibir, tangan, dan wajah, lewat serangkaian pose dan ekspresi. Beberapa informan lain menganggap foto-foto di majalah Hijabella tidak sensual. Maka, berada pada posisi oppositional. Sebagian informan setuju model perempuan pada foto di majalah Hijabella mengesankan sensualitas, tetapi melakukan penyesuaian terhadap pemaknaannya. Maka, sebagian informan ini berada di posisi negotiated. Translation: This research focuses on the interpretation of hijab-wearing women about sensuality of women's bodies as shown through the photographs in Hijabella magazine. Sensuality of women in the media are often pictured through forms of body fragments in various positions and poses as a sign. Researcher was interested to see the interpretation of the hijab-wearing women on the sensuality of female body in the magazine’s photographs, for the difference between the meaning of hijab in Islam to what is shown by the magazine. Therefore, the problem of this research is the interpretation of the hijab-wearing women regarding the sensuality of women’s bodies on the photographs in Hijabella magazine. Literature review in this research are: culture and magazine; female body and sensuality; grammar of photography; reception analysis; and hijab-women as audience. This research uses a qualitative approach with constructivist paradigm. To uncover the interpretation of sensuality, this research uses reception analysis as a method by conducting focus group discussion to 9 hijab-wearing women as informants. Based on the analysis result, it was found that the informants had diverse interpretations about the photographs. Informants who considered the photographs as sensual were in the dominant-hegemonic decoding position. According to the informants, sensuality was shown through protrusion parts of the body such as the lips, hands and face, through a series of poses and expressions. Several other informants regarded the photographs in the magazine as non-sensual. Thus, these several informants were in the oppositional position. Few informants agreed on the idea that the female models in the photographs were displaying sensuality. However, they made adjustments to the meaning. Hence, these later informants were in the negotiated position.
