Abstract

The decade of the 1920's, part icularly in the United States, social change seemed to be swifter and more dramatic than in previous generation. People were primarily interested in having fun and igno ring more serious ma tters. American rich had imerged as a distinct social group. Wealth, leisure were important. Scott Fitzgerald is one of the greatest American writers in the twenties. He is interested. in presenting the actual condition of the 1920's American society which is reflected in his novels such as The Great Gatsby .
